# Categories

> Organizing your product catalog with categories for better management and discovery.

## Overview

**Categories** allow you to group related products together. This helps both internal teams manage a large catalog and customers find the services they need.

### Why Use Categories?

* **Organization**: Group products by business unit, service type, or target audience.
* **Filtering**: Easily filter products in the admin UI or the API.
* **Portal Layout**: Use categories to structure how products are displayed in your customer-facing store or portal.

### Creating Categories

1. Go to **BillSpree → Billing Setup → Categories**.
2. Click **Add Category**.
3. Provide a **Name** and **Description**.
4. You can also assign a **Parent Category** to create a hierarchical structure.

### Assigning Products to Categories

When editing a **Pricing Template**, you can select one or more categories to which it belongs.
